Quote of the day: "The world is going to pieces and people like Adams and Weston are photographing rocks!" -- Henri Cartier-Bresson

South Dakota was the last state on the trip where I planned to do serious photography. The Badlands was my main target, although I decided to photograph Mt. Rushmore since I would be staying near there. Again, the weather did not cooperate, and the day I intended to shoot Mt. Rushmore was dreary and wet (the sculpture was obscured by low clouds). Instead I went to Jewel Cave and did the tour, which was interesting and a new photographic experience. I did not have time to do careful photography with the camera on a tripod, so the shots are not what I hoped for. However, I found that I would like to some better cave photography in the future if possible. The next day I shot Mt. Rushmore in the morning and then made my way to the Badlands. The Badlands is an interesting area, and I could have spent a few more days there but I knew the weather was going to deteriorate soon so I decided to move on. But I did get a few nice shots...
