Quote of the day: "Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose--and you allow him to make war at pleasure." --Abraham Lincoln
I passed through Nevada on my way to Wyoming, and I stayed overnight at Angel Lake State Park. The drive up to the park is quite dramatic, it is a road cut into the side of a mountain with no guard rails. I found it a bit intimidating, especially since on the way up the car is on the outside part of the road. Although the edge of the road appeared to be a sheer drop off the mountain while I was going up, I realized the next day that it is not as steep as it appears. There is a small lake at the top of the moutain and a cliff behind it. I first saw it by the light of a full moon (after setting up my tent), and it was spectacular. I realized that it was an ideal photo opportunity for the rising sun, and I planned to get up the next morning to be in position. I managed to catch some red rays at sunrise, as seen in the photo below. I must say that the cliff did appear very different in sunlight as compared to moonlight. It may be ideal to see it first by the light of a full moon...
